A school of sporting excellence

Stanford Lake College offers a wide range of traditional as well as adventure sporting opportunities for all students.

Our students are taught to compete with purpose, striving for excellence and always within the school’s value system of fair play and sportsmanship.

A full range of sports activities is offered at Stanford and we continue to search out and support local and international sports tours.

Sport is compulsory for all and students must choose at least one sport per term.

High Performance Centre (HPC)

The High Performance Centre was opened in May 2016. The building boasts a fully equipped gym, two squash courts, two classrooms, four offices for sports staff, an ‘aerobics’ floor, and a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool. The pool also has a state-of- the-art touch pad timing system, allowing us to host Olympic quality galas. The classrooms are used for day to day teaching of academics but also have the equipment to hold video analysis sessions of any sport. In addition, they can be opened up into one large ‘hall’ providing a multipurpose dimension.

Water-based Astroturf

The astro at Stanford Lake College was officially opened in May 2018. The state-of-the-art, water-based astroturf was the first of its kind in South Africa and is complete with full FIH accreditation.

The water lubricates the pitch, reducing friction and allowing for quicker and smoother play.

The astro at Stanford stands at almost 1600m above sea level, with stunning views of the Wolkberg mountains.
