Three Stanford Lake College teams completed the 2019 edition of the South African Schools Adventure Racing Championships on Monday, 23rd September, claiming second, third and fourth positions. They joined the top Provincial school teams in South Africa at Cape St Francis Resort in the Kouga Region of the Eastern Cape for the event. Racing in the Senior category for team Ubuntu, were Casper Venter, Danica Altenroxel, Jarryd Gosling and Reuben Middleton. For team Tshanduko, also a senior team, the racers were Gunther Katzke, Michael Scriven, Heidi Katzke and Rachel Thompson. The junior team, Badgers, was Benno Kotzé, Jethro Clowes, Lianke Fourie and Michaela Gosling.
The junior teams raced approximately 60 km in the event (5 km Kayak, 32 km Cycle, 20 km Trek) and the senior teams approximately 80 km (7 km Kayak, 50 km Cycle, 20 km Trek).
All three Stanford Lake College did exceptionally well, with team Ubuntu finishing in second place among the seniors in a time of 7h 17m. Tshanduko finished third among the seniors in a time of 8h 28m and The Badgers finished fourth among the juniors in a time of 8h 28m.
