A state-of-the-art sports facility
The High Performance Centre was opened in May 2016. As our pupils became more competitive on the sports fields, it was decided a facility was needed where our athletes could increase their training regime and make it more effective in order to improve their overall fitness, which complements our approach to a holistic education here at Stanford. Pupils, staff and the wider community now have access to a state-of-the-art indoor sports facility, allowing us to be active and healthy all year round. The facility also acts as the heart of our sports programme and serves as the home of the Sports Department.
The building boasts a fully equipped gym, two squash courts, two classrooms, four offices for sports staff, an ‘aerobics’ floor, and a 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool. The pool also has a state-of- the-art touch pad timing system, allowing us to host Olympic quality galas. The classrooms are used for day to day teaching of academics but also have the equipment to hold video analysis sessions of any sport. In addition, they can be opened up into one large ‘hall’ providing a multipurpose dimension. The aerobics floor is also used for general bodyweight training, Judo classes and any other such activity.
The pool area has enough seating for 300 people, which means it is also used for school assembly and event briefings. The two change rooms are designed to fit entire sports teams and the building’s proximity to the sports fields make it the ideal spot for team talks and pre-game preparation.
The entire building is also perfect for social events of any kind due to its multipurpose design.
