We offer a wide range of subject options, allowing each learner to flourish.

Stanford Lake College offers a variety of subjects within the IEB framework. Our school syllabus is structured in such a way as to allow young learners in grades 8 and 9 to develop necessary thinking and learning skills to lay the foundation for the FET programme of grades 10, 11 and 12.

Our staff are specialists within their subject and field, and are up to date with developments within each subject framework. With a teacher to pupil ratio of 1:9, each learner is given the individual attention needed for success in all subjects and fields. Learners are given guidance and advice with their subject choices in grade 10, allowing each individual to meet their full potential.

List of subjects: Grade 8 and 9

In grade 8 and 9 all subjects are compulsory. It is only in the FET phase (grade 10-12) that learners make subject choices to align with their tertiary education goals.

Dad programme

The dad centre (“dream and do”) is utterly unique. Here, we combine outdoor education and academic subjects to develop SMART pupils.  We realise that our global economy needs young people who are SMART. They have to have skills that go beyond the ordinary and outside the classroom.  It allows the pupils to dream and do; to realise their potential and act upon it. The programme is focused within the Round Square Development Framework.

Smart pupils are educated to be:

  • Solution finders
  • Calculated risk takers
  • Financially astute
  • Confident communicators
  • Good friends
