The Independent Schools Athletics competition took place on Friday, January 25 January at the Peter Mokaba Athletics Stadium in Polokwane. Five schools took part in the meeting and there was fierce competition between Stanford Lake College, Curro Heuwelkruin and Pepps on the track as well as in the field events. The Stanford athletes excelled in the Long hurdles, 800m and 1500m events which put them ahead on the points table.
The scores remained close throughout the day between the three schools with exceptional performances from athletes from the five schools.
There were wonderful performances from a number SLC’s athletes, with three Stanfordians taking top titles. Lia Revelas was Senior Girls Victrix Ludorum, Rofhiwa Nevhutalu was Senior Boys Victor Ludorum and Isabella Drewett was Junior Girls Victrix Ludorum.
The combined efforts of all of SLC’s athletes secured a convincing win for the school, with 739 points. Curro Heuwelkruin took second and Pepps took third.
Well done to all those who ran, jumped and threw for Stanford Lake College – you did SLC proud.
